What is the opportunity?  

Whyalla Beef feedlot is located just 15 minutes outside of the township of Texas Queensland. With our recent expansion works complete, we now have a capacity of 75,000 head. Be part of a dynamic leadership team working to bring the ‘Joy of Eating’ to consumers globally.

The Livestock Dispatch Officer role is the ideal role for an enthusiastic and driven professional that aspires to be a future leader in the industry, with opportunities to take on more responsibilities as you progress. The role provides on-the-job training with external career development opportunities available for recognised individuals. This is the first step to your career!

 

Key Responsibilities

As a Leading Hand in our Dispatch team you will need to be a strong leader with excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail.

Daily duties include:

  • Drafting and despatching cattle to meet market specifications
  • Quality Assurance
  • Ensuring the safety of people and cattle
  • Ensuring Animal welfare standards and Low-stress stock handling practices are adhered to.
  • Planning and managing daily drafting activities – working in with the Livestock Manager and Production Manager to meet operational goals
  • The accurate completion and submission of documentation for cattle movements out of the Feedlot (NVDs, Trucking Schedules etc)
  • Developing relationships and liaising with our truck company and plant to ensure the smooth transfer of cattle.

 

About You

  • Experience in cattle handling essential
  • Ability to provide direction and guidance to a small team
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork and documentation
  • Able to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
